Tour to Līgatne Paper Mill
The history of producing paper in Līgatne dates back to 1815 when the first sheets of paper were produced of old fabric rags. The Paper Mill golden time was the end of 19th century, when it was granted permission to produce so called tsar’s paper – paper with watermark of tsarist Russia’s two-headed eagle. Nowadays Līgatne Paper Mill factory is not working anymore, but you have an opportunity to visit it with guide and see place, where paper were produced for almost 200 years. Tour includes viewing the Paper Mill worker’s apartment.
